I have a policy when it comes to my writing:

If something is going to be controversial and potentially elicit a negative response from my readers, I “sit” on the topic for 24 hours. During that time, I weigh the decision of whether me publicly writing about something is for the better good – meaning that it’ll help people in the long-term even if it makes them recognize that they’ve been goofing up in the short-term.

I did some thinking on that front last night (actually, for the past several nights), and decided to go through with this blog, as I feel like it’s something that every single baseball player, parent, and especially coach ought to read. So, if you’re in one of those categories – or are just a baseball fan who loves the game – please spread the word on what you’re about to read, whether it’s with a Facebook “recommend,” “Tweet,” or just a friendly email with the link to this article.

Prodigy 11U fend off NWA Dragons’s late push, hold on 6-4

NWA Dragons was unable to fight back from the big hole it dug itself into against KC Prodigy 11U, and NWA Dragons lost 6-4 to KC Prodigy 11U after falling behind by four runs in the third inning.

NWA Dragons scored three runs in the third on a passed ball, an RBI single by Watson, and. Despite its efforts, NWA Dragons couldn’t get over the hump.

Dawson Parks racked up four RBIs on two hits for KC Prodigy 11U. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Will Fricker put together a nice outing. NWA Dragons managed just two hits off of F, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out four during his five innings of work.

KC Prodigy 11U stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring two runs on a two-run single by Dawson.

Proper Fielding Position for Pitchers?

Watch out for the tongue-in-cheek first paragraph of this great post by Brian Oates of Oates Specialties about pitchers getting into the proper fielding position.

Getting into the proper fielding position should NOT be a concern for pitchers. Too much emphasis on this can cause bad mechanics, which can lead to injury and less effective “stuff”.

Fourth-inning rally sparks blowout win for KC Prodigy 11U, 7-0

KC Prodigy 11U rolled over Kansas Coyotes 7-0 on Friday at Tiffany Hills after a four-run rally in the fourth inning.

KC Prodigy 11U was led by Dawson P‘s hitting. Dawson went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning.

Kansas Coyotes couldn’t get anything going so long as Will F was on the hill. Kansas Coyotes managed just two hits off of the KC Prodigy 11U’s pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during his four innings of work.

KC Prodigy 11U went up for good in the first, scoring one run on an RBI single by Jackson T.

KC Prodigy 11U brought home one run in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fifth. In the third, KC Prodigy 11U scored on an RBI single by Zach L, plating Cole C.

Finally! I’ve been saying this for 2 years now. Major League Baseball babies it’s pitchers and then wonders why they all end up under the knife. And the training for youth pitchers is almost non-existent, even while the number of games played continues to increase and coaches worry more about winning than protecting their players.
