Elliott Velasquez is a 2009 graduate from Oak Park High School, under Coach Troy Andrews. Velasquez played collegiate baseball at Coffeyville Community College, the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, and Newman University in Wichita, Kansas.

Velasquez was a Second Team All-Conference Selection at Coffeyville Community College where he had a 6-5 record with a 3.53 Earned Run Average, as a Sophomore, striking out 52 batters over 79 innings. Elliott had a 6-4 record with a 4.95 ERA as a Freshman.
